PML-N chairmen from Chiniot join PTI
Party’s senior minister assures them party will empower local government representatives
LAHORE:
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has taken more wickets of the former ruling party as Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz's (PML-N) local government representatives from district Chiniot have switched their loyalties.
The local government chairmen from district Chiniot, on Thursday, called on Punjab Senior Minister Abdul Aleem Khan at his office to announce their joining. PML-N's Chiniot Municipal Corporation Chairman Mehr Khalid, Tehsil Bhawana Chairman Mehr Arshad, and Vice Chairman Tanveer Gujar, along with various councilors from the area announced to join PTI.
Aleem welcomed newcomers and assured them that the PTI government would empower local government representatives by giving them financial and administrative autonomy. The previous PML-N government in Punjab had made the local government system toothless and ineffective by slashing its power, he said. However, the present government is in the process to introduce an efficient and effective local government system in the province, he added.
He pointed out that owing to the flawed local government system, a number of local government representatives from 14 district of Punjab have already joined the PTI. They believed that Imran Khan was the last ray of hope and he would fulfill all his promises. The manifesto of change was being implemented in true letter and spirit and the work had already been started in the right direction, he added.
The minister said that without disseminating powers at the local level public problems cannot be solved. He underscored that one-man show in Punjab was the root cause of most of the problems being faced by the public.
In Punjab, Aleem said, 56 companies had proved the den of corruption and nepotism where 99% mismanagement surfaced due to the wrong practices of the then chief minister Shehbaz Sharif. He claimed that the present government had taken responsibility of introducing broad-based reforms. The PTI leadership had already put on the largest province of Pakistan, Punjab, on the road to progress and prosperity with a new vision.
The minister said that far-reaching policies were being introduced in different sectors on a priority basis and soon people of Punjab would witness a positive change. Aleem congratulated all those who joined PTI and assured them his full cooperation.
Provincial Minister Mian Khalid Mahmood was also present in the meeting.
