JIT has three days to investigate the matter, compile a report

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar issued directives on Monday to add more members to the joint investigation team (JIT) formed to probe the Sahiwal tragedy, Express News reported.

Upon CM's orders, Additional Inspector General (IG) Establishment Ijaz Shah has been appointed as the JIT convener. Members from the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Intelligence Bureau have also been included in the team.

The newly added members include Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Investigations Khalid Abubakr and Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) President Falak Sher.

The JIT will now have three days to investigate the matter and compile a report.

The report shall entail statements from eyewitnesses and details of instances from the crime scene. During the probe, investigators may also check for records from the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD).

On Saturday, three members of a family, parents and a 13-year-old daughter, and a friend were killed in what was describe as an “encounter with terrorists” by the law enforcement agency. The killings were witnessed by surviving members of the family: three minors.
