Basic facilities missing at Taxila THQ hospital

RAWALPINDI: Taking notice of absence of basic health facilities at Tehsil Headquarter (THQ) Hospital Taxila, the Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Ghulam Sarwar Khan has sought a detailed report of missing facilities from District Health Authority (DHA).

District Health Authority Director Finance and Administration Dr Ali Ehsan said that the minister during his surprise visit to THQ Hospital took notice of the absence of the blood bank that was typically urgently required in emergency cases. He also discovered that the anesthesia machine and dental unit were out of order.

The director said that the anesthesia machine and dental unit were installed around 20 years ago and are now, no longer in a working condition.

He also stated that the hospital does not have the facility of a blood bank.

Ehsan said that a detailed report of lack of facilities has been prepared and being forwarded to Minister of Petroleum who will meet the Chief Minister for provision of funds at the earliest.

He informed that if the government provided Rs5 million, there would be enough funds to get a new dental unit, anesthesia machine and blood bank.
