ISLAMABAD:
Turkiye Maarif Foundation has taken over the management of Pak-Turk schools after Supreme Court in December last year directed the interior ministry to declare Pak-Turk International Cag Education Foundation (PTICEF) a proscribed organisation and ordered that the control of educational institutions, being run by the PTICEF, be handed to TMF.

Addressing a press conference, Executive Board Member Mahmoud Mustafa Ozdil stated that TMF had taken over the administrative, financial and other control of Pak-Turk schools, not laying off any teacher and reducing the fees by 20 percent.

Ozdil informed reporters that a new educational system was being laid down for peace, justice and promotion of science. He said that TMF wanted to award the students an opportunity to move forward with an open mind, knowledge and intellect. He maintained that the purpose was not only to impart education but to make the students knowledgeable and successful.

The EBM said that students would be awarded scholarships and free education on the basis of their performance. He said that free education would be given to the poor and orphans. Meanwhile, those who would demonstrate extraordinary skills would be given additional facilities.

Ozdil remarked that the students of TMF would be provided higher education including free doctorate facility in Turkey. He said that one thousand Pakistani teachers were employed in 26 campuses of Pak-Turk schools. They were being trained to teach subjects of science and research in Turkish language. Ozdil observed that the teachers would be promoted on the basis of their skills and experience.

The participants of the conference were told that Maarif Foundation had its representation in 50 countries and enjoyed complete cooperation between Turkey and Pakistan.

Maarif Foundation Pakistan’s director Salahuddin Batir said that Pakistan and Turkey were close friends and the relationship between the two countries was above politics and based on love.
