ISLAMABAD: The civic agency on Tuesday claimed that it was taking steps to develop various sectors of the federal capital, particularly Park Enclave.

In this regard, the concerned formations have been directed to not only actively pursue different cases pending in various courts, but to also overcome hurdles so that development can proceed at an accelerated pace.

This was stated by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Member Estate Khushal Khan while chairing a meeting at the authority’s headquarters. The meeting was attended by officers from the Law Wing, Land and Rehabilitation Directorate, Estate Management Directorate and other concerned formations.

The officials also expressed concern over news reports about Park Enclave. The officials claim that the reports were based on a distortion of facts, misrepresentation and carried unwarranted accusations.

With first phase complete, Park Enclave posed several environmental issues: report

Law Wing representatives said that in a case of Hameeda Bano against the CDA, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) had stopped CDA from making allotments in the Kurri Model Village until the next hearing of the case.

It was further briefed that CDA neither blamed nor accused the court in the referred letter. The meeting was also briefed that the impression given by a certain section of the media was not based on facts and is itself contemptuous and defamatory and that the court will be apprised of the ‘correct factual position,’ when the case heard next.

The meeting was further told that possession of some 61 plots in Park Enclave could not be handed over to the allottees because the land was under occupation of its past owners, from whom the land had been acquired in 1968. They added that despite paying compensation and rehabilitation benefits, the past owners of the land had failed to relinquish its possession.

In 2008, with permission from the then federal government, CDA had agreed to a package deal with the previous landowners in order to clear the land by relocating them to the Kurri Model Village. DNA
