LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Monday issued notice to the Punjab government on a petition by the Elite Police Training School in Bedian challenging the disconnection of its electricity supply by the Lahore Electricity Supply Company (LESCO). The school filed the petition through its deputy superintendent Hassan Danyal submitting that Lesco cut off its power supply on June 1 for defaulting on bills of Rs17.5 million. He said that since then, the school had been without electricity as well as water, which had made it more vulnerable to attack by terrorists. The petitioner said the school had been paying its outstanding dues in monthly installments of Rs2 million. He asked the court to direct the authorities to restore the electricity connection immediately. The Lesco counsel said that the connection could not be restored until full payment of the outstanding bill. He said several notices had been served on the school but all hadremained unanswered. The court sought a reply from the government within one week.
