Pakistani starlet Sara Loren denied Indian visa

Actor is all set to make a comeback in Bollywood opposite Arshad Warsi in a comedy film titled, 'Fraud Saiyaan'

Pakistani actor Sara Loren made her Bollywood debut with Pooja Bhatt’s Kajraare and later went on to work in Murder 3, which also starred Randeep Hooda in the lead.

The starlet recently made an appearance in Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2 and is now all set to make a comeback in Bollywood opposite Arshad Warsi. She will be doing so in a comedy film titled, Fraud Saiyaan.

But while she actively participated in the promotions for her previous Bollywood films, this time around, due to the political tension between India and Pakistan, the actor has to been denied a visa.

“I wish I could join my team members in India at this moment,” Loren was quoted by Mid-day as saying. “Sitting on a sofa, having coffee and watching my [film’s] song on repeat is wonderful. I will hopefully join my team before the film releases.”

The shooting for Fraud Saiyaan wrapped up in August 2016, before the ban on Pakistani artistes working in India was imposed.

“It is sad to see such a talented actor being denied the right to promote her film. She has been in and out of the visa office for days,” said Prakash Jha, the director of the rom-com.

A source close to the production says the starlet's dual citizenship affords her the right to apply for a visa from Dubai. "She had applied for a visa four times, and has now done so from Dubai. Sara owns property there. But, her prior stint in Pakistan seems to be a hindrance."

The story of Sara's upcoming Bollywood flick revolves around Arshad’s character, Bhola Prasad Tripathi, who fraudulently marries several different women for money. The trailer released last week featuring Sara playing the role of one of his wives.

Fraud Saiyaan is a light-hearted comedy film inspired by a real-life fraudster who secretly married seven women in seven different Indian states. It has been produced by Disha Prakash Jha and Kanishk Gangwal and is set to release on 18 January.
