QUETTA: The provincial cabinet introduced a multitude of laws and reforms, finalized formula for 20,000 jobs, and submitted departmental performance report on 700 development schemes to the Balochistan chief minister over the last four months.

This was stated by Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) Central Media Coordinator Muhammad Azeem Kakar at a press conference in Quetta on Friday. The coordinator spoke about measures the government has taken in view of a number of issues being faced by the province.

Talking about development regarding China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), he said on November 1, CM Jam Kamal as part of PM Imran Khan’s delegation visited China. The chief minister presented provincial government’s demand of 9 per cent increase in China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) share, he added.

Then on December 20, at the 8th Joint Cooperation Committee meeting in Beijing, provincial information minister Mir Zahoor Buledi asked for Chinese assistance in provincial fisheries, mining, and other sectors.

Speaking about provincial cabinet’s performance, Kakar said the government finalised formula for 20,000 vacant jobs in Balochistan with increase in age limit for government jobs from 33 to 43 years.

Kakar highlighted that Chief Minister Complaint Cell was also established that has been receiving public complaints on a daily basis.

On cleanliness drive, he said “During the initial phase of cleanliness campaign in the provincial capital, 20 wards have been cleaned while road expansion projects was underway to change the congested look of Quetta city”.

Moreover, the provincial cabinet imposed health and education emergency to tackle long-lingering drought and improve quality of education. A task force was formed to compile data of drought-stricken areas, adding that a fund of Rs500 million was also announced.

He added that on the directives of Balochistan chief minister, commissioners and deputy commissioners were given additional powers.

Further, he said the provincial assembly approved draft bill for Gwadar University while 500 acres land and Rs1billion grant was also allocated for the university.
