NAB arrests former Malir DC

For illegal allotment of 27 plots in Scheme 31 and Scheme 33 of Malir district

KARACHI: The administrative judge of accountability courts on Thursday remanded the former Malir deputy commissioner Kazi Jan Muhammad to the custody of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) till January 14.

The counsel for the accused argued that his client was a heart patient and should be provided B class in NAB’s custody. The court inquired about the allegations against the accused.

The investigation officer said that Muhammad was accused of illegal allotment of 27 plots in Scheme 31 and Scheme 33 of Malir district, in collusion with officials of the revenue department, which caused a loss of more than Rs2.5 billion to the national exchequer.

Muhammad is also sought in several other cases of corruption and unfair use of his authority.
