QUETTA: Balochistan Minister for Science and Information Technology, Population Welfare Abdul Rehman Khetran on Tuesday said the recruitment process for more than 20,000 vacant positions would be completed by June 2019 to control unemployment in the province.

He expressed these views while addressing a press conference at the Quetta Press Club.

All Balochistan NTS Action Committee President Saiful Rehman, General Secretary Khadim Hussain, Tanveer Baloch and Muhammad Anwar Khan Khilji were also present on the occasion.

The minister thanked the NTS Action Committee for ending their 10-month-long protest on his request. "The incumbent government will fulfil all demands of Balochistan NTS Action Committee according to the law," he said.

The minister said on appeal of youth, Chief Minister Jamal Kamal Khan has increased the upper age limit by five years for employment in government departments. “Now, instead of 38 years, a 43-year-old person can apply for a government job,” he added.

The minister said violence and weapons could not eradicate poverty and unemployment, but would only lead to destruction, adding that sensible and sagacious societies resolve their issues through dialogue only.

The minister said circumstances had changed now as the provincial government had arranged a meeting for the recovery of missing persons. He appealed to the families of the missing people to leave the path of violence and come to the negotiating table.

“Balochistan is our motherland, provincial government will go to any extent to negotiate with the missing person's families,” he said, adding that appointments on Grade 1-15 posts would be carried out through Recruitment Committee at the district level and on the basis of merit only.

Posts above grade 15 would be filled through Balochistan Public Service Commission, he added.

To a question regarding recruitment done during the interim set-up, the minister said the cabinet had constituted a committee under his supervision to investigate the matter, adding that the committee submitted recommendations to the cabinet after completing its task.

He said in view of these recommendations, the cabinet further formulated an inquiry committee. “Now, any person who has reservations regarding appointments in any department can launch his complaint with the inquiry committee but with complete evidence,” said the minister. “If the complaint proves correct, the people appointed illegally will be removed from their jobs immediately.”
