Supreme Court issues notice to Zardari; freezes Omni Group assets

ISLAMABAD: The country's highest court on Monday issued a notice to former president Asif Ali Zardari in a suo motu case pertaining to money laundering of billions of rupees through fake accounts.

Zardari, the co-chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), has been directed to submit reply by December 31.

A three-member bench of the Supreme Court, headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar and comprising Justice Umar Ata Bandial and Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan hearing the case at the apex courtÔÇÖs registry in Lahore, also froze assets of Omni Group.
