Bollywood veteran Alok Nath has been embroiled in a legal battle  against allegations of rape and harassment pressed on him by renowned Indian writer and producer Vinta Nanda.

However, in a recent hearing at the court, Nath reportedly called Nanda's allegations a 'figment of her imagination', reported Hindustan Times.

In the wake of the #MeToo movement, a lot of prominent personalities have come under the scanner and one of the most shocking names to have surfaced was Nath's.

In the hearing that took place in a Mumbai court on Thursday, the Hum Saath Saath Hain actor's advocate D N Goburdhun lashed out at the producer and called her a delusional complainant. He also branded Nanda as a woman who drank alcohol, indulged in drugs and had relationships with married men with children.

Goburdhun said, “Nanda probably wanted some unrelenquished love from the actor” and quashed her complaints as mere publicity.

As quoted by India Today, Nath's lawyer has termed the writer-producer's rape allegation an imaginative story and added that she did not cooperate with the police during the investigation period as she was busy attending film festivals.

The arguments by the advocate went on for more than 90 minutes, during which he termed Nanda’s things such as “a fairy tale” and “comic book.” He said, “She has kept the whole world at her beck and call and did not go for investigations when the police called her."

Goburdhun added, “Vinta Nanda wanted to create marital discord between Nath and his wife as she forced the veteran actor to shoot a kissing scene in a serial at one point of time, two decades ago despite Nath's objection as his wife did not approve of such scenes.”

Nanda's lawyer Dhruti Kapadia objected to the arguments made, claiming Nath and Goburdhun want to do character assassination of the writer.

Recently, the producer had filed an FIR against the accused and when the police had gone to Nath’s house, he was untraceable. According to other reports, he has gone missing and no one has any idea of his whereabouts.

Nanda accused the actor of rape and sexual harassment in an incident that took place 19 years ago, as she recounted her account on Facebook. Following the announcement on social media, she filed an official complaint against Nath in Mumbai. She was the writer and producer of television serial Tara, in which Nath played a lead role.

Bollywood's #MeToo movement began when Indian actor Tanushree Dutta renewed a decade old sexual harassment case against superstar Nana Patekar. Soon after, a lot of women have come out in the open to name and shame their sexual predators.
