ISLAMABAD: Police arrested a man for allegedly thrashing a female pharmacist at Islamabad's Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) after she 'turned him away' on Sunday.

A case was lodged at Karachi Company Police Station by Maria Kiyani, the alleged victim who works as a pharmacist at hospital, in which she claims to have been  physically assaulted by Dr Saeed Ahmed in public.

Kiyani said she was slapped multiple times and threatened with dire consequences.

Dr Ahmed serves as a faculty member at Quaid-e-Azam University and was at Pims to visit his father, who was admitted there.

Kiyani claims that when the professor came to the pharmacy for details of his bills for medicines, she told him that she was currently busy and requested him to come back later.

The pharmacist also told him that she had already given cash memos for all the medical supplies he had procured. He, however, in a fit of rage proceeded to thrash her and then hurl threats at the young pharmacist.

SHO Habibur Rehman said the suspect, Dr Saeed Ahmed, has been released on bail.
