Oppo announces $1.43b investment in R&D
The Chinese consumer electronics and mobile communication company established its 5G team in 2015
Smartphone maker OPPO made a range of announcements at the focused ‘2018 OPPO Technology Exhibition’ in Shenzhen.
One of the announcements focused on an increase in R&D spending to RMB 10 billion in 2019. This becomes a 150 per cent year-on-year increase. Along with this, Tony Chen, Founder, and CEO of OPPO also announced that the company will increase investment on a yearly basis.
OPPO plans on integrating its supply chain and building on its technical expertise that will enhance the company’s capabilities when it comes to technology.

Furthermore, OPPO will develop its artificial intelligence to a range of smart devices, including home appliances and smartwatches. This will help in meeting the increasingly rigid demands of the consumers of today.
