RAWALPINDI: A civil court on Tuesday acquitted television personality Mishi Khan in a fraud case in which she was implicated of swindling Rs400,000 from a private medical clinic in Rawalpindi.

The case was being heard for the past three years with seven different judges in the chair.

The actor was booked by the New Town police in 2015 for allegedly swindling money from homeopathic lady doctor Afshan Khan to run the advertisement campaign of her clinic and beauty salon and not honouring her commitment.

Khan's advocate Nabila Shaheen Bangash prayed the court that the amount was given to the advertising agency's owner through a cheque and the actor had no hand in using the funds as she was only hired by them.

After being exonerated of all charges, the actress said she was thankful that she was finally found to be innocent.

Earlier on August 1, a Pashto stage actress and singer was allegedly shot dead by her husband in the Nowshera Kalan locality of Nowshera district.

A police official said the actress Resham’s brother, Obaidullah, lodged a First Information Report (FIR) with the local police and accused her husband of the crime.

Resham was married to Fayda Khan, a resident of Rahimabad, and her husband was residing and working outside the country due to an ongoing domestic dispute between the couple.
