At least 65 people have died in more than 2,000 road crashes this year

The number of road accidents on Rajanpur National Highway is on the rise with each passing day. At least 65 people have died in more than 2,000 road crashes this year. Citizens said that accidents have increased on the highway due to speeding and a one-way road. Rescue officer Rana Yameen said that 2,325 road accidents were reported during the ongoing year. Majority of the injured were shifted to nearby hospitals, while 1,925 people were given first aid on the spot. However, 65 people died on the scene. Civil society activists and residents have demanded that the government construct a double road to save human lives. They said that several applications were written to the district and provincial governments over the matter but action has not yet been taken.
