The pair released their official wedding pictures yesterday evening, after a long, long wait - but the anticipation was worth it. While some are still spellbound by the said photos, I'm going to make use of this mesmerisation and get down to business.
But rather than analysing just #DeepVeer's ensembles, I thought it would be interesting to make a comparison with other star couples who recently got married, namely: Anushka Sharma-Virat Kohli and Sonam Kapoor-Anand Ahuja. So, without further ado, here's a lowdown of the contrasts between the three pairs' wedding attires.
1. #DeepVeer
The Sindhi ceremony held in Italy's Lake Como on November 15, 2018, saw the Bajirao Mastani actors clad in flame-coloured Sabyasachi outfits. Deepika donned a lehenga choli full of sparkling gold gota and sequin work. Her dupatta was probably the highlight of the whole look though, as it added a personal touch with its border featuring embroidery that read “Sada Saubhagyavati Bhava,” which means “May you forever be married and steer away from the curse of widowhood" in Sanskrit.
The Chennai Express star accessorised with heavy, conventional Sabyasachi jewellery containing an oversized maang teeka and earrings, a delicate nath and several rings adorned on henna-laden hands. She also sported kaleerein around her wrists.
While her significant other was garbed in a luxurious banarasi sherwani, he co-ordinated with Deepika by wearing a shawl entailing similar embellishments with the addition of zardozi. Radiating a regal vibe, Ranveer's accessories included a deep red, layered necklace as well as a shorter one featuring polki. The striped turban completed the look.
2. #Virushka
Anushka and Virat also tied the knot in Italy however, that's probably the only major similarity between the two couples' weddings. That, and the fact that #Virushka wore Sabyasachi too. However, while Deepika opted for traditional red, the PK star went for pale pink, heavy jewellery and minimal makeup.
She made for an ethereal bride clad in a customised lehenga choli encompassing pastel-toned embroidery. The embellishments also included silver-gold zardozi, white pearls and delicate beading, all exuding finesse. She was ornamented with an elaborate polki choker and necklace as well as a matching mathapatti and pearled nath.
Virat donned an off-white sherwani entailing golden embroidery and pearl buttons. He had a matching shawl wrapped around, bordered with sequins. The pink organza turban tied the two outfits together perfectly, complete with an intricate brooch and feather. He wore no jewellery.
3. #EverydayPhenomenal
An Anuradha Vakil creation, Sonam’s choice of sari for her wedding was also red, featuring gold trimmings similar to Deepika's attire. The Veere Di Wedding star went all out on her big day with a very conventional outfit and old-fashioned jewellery to keep in with the theme of her attire.
Much like Deepika's, Sonam's ensemble also featured a lot of gota and sequins, as well as zardozi. Her jewellery, on the other hand, was quite different. The maatha patti was pearled and layered while her necklace was oversized and contained various stones. Her jhumkas however, were on the smaller side and matched with the choker which had lavender stones entwined in the gold but had bright red and green beading at the back. She also wore an elaborate hath panja and the traditional red bangles. Long story short, Sonam donned many statement pieces, all with intricate details of their own.
Contrarily, Anand was much simpler with a fawn coloured sherwani embroidered all over in the same hue featuring statement buttons. He went for the same beaded necklace that Ranveer wore with the addition of a layered pearl one too. And like Virat, his organza turban also entailed a white feather and polki brooch.
Although there were some similarities between the three couples, they all emitted differing vibes. Where #EverydayPhenomenal had an old-world charm, #Virushka was much more contemporary. Nonethless all three pairs managed to stun in their own special way.
