LDA to set targets for master plan 2040

LAHORE: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has called a consultative meeting of the government departments, industrialist, land developers, society representatives and legal experts on November 20 to deliberate on the new master plan of the city.

LDA Chief Metropolitan Planner Syed Nadeem Akhtar Zaidi has already extended invitations to different stakeholders for this consultative meeting. The meeting, which will be held at LDA Sports Complex in Johar Town, is aimed at benefit from the expert opinion of different stakeholders.

The LDA officials said the current master plan of the city would be expired in 2021 and to cater increasing urban need the authority has initiated deliberation process for new master plan that would remain effective till 2040.

The authority has constituted a 15-member committee to review the shortcomings of the existing master plan and compilation of proposals and recommendations for new master plan for Lahore division.

NESPAK Principle Town Planner Ahmad Masood Daas has been nominated as coordinator of this committees, while its members included LDA Chief Town Planner Syed Nadeem Akhtar Zaidi, LDA and NESPAK chief engineers, Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) managing director, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines (SNGP) managing director, Lahore Electricity Supply Company (LESCO) chief executive, Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) managing director, Environment Protection Agency (EPA) director general, Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) managing director, chief traffic officer Metropolitan Planning and Traffic Engineering and Transport Planning Agency (TEPA) directors and advocate Samar Masood Sufi.
