Cyclone could hit coastal areas in 48 hours

Authorities have prohibited people from visiting beaches and police has been deployed along the coastal areas.

KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department on Wednesday warned that low wind pressure in the Arabian Sea could turn into a medium intensity cyclone in the next 48 hours.

Authorities have prohibited people from visiting beaches and police has been deployed along the coastal areas.

The cyclone will pass through the coasts of Karachi, Thatta, Badin, Makran and Gwadar, giving way to heavy rainfall and winds in these areas.

Fishermen who are currently present in the open sea have been directed to return by Friday.

User | 13 years ago | Reply Each person is saying wellcome strom its hot.wellcoming the rain but u know what happens when the strom crash at karachi and gwadar and many other areas.100s of people will die tousound of them will be home less so ple pray to God that forgive us and take the strom away from us.

shehzad | 13 years ago | Reply The system seems to be stationery. it is still 200 to 250 mile away from Pakistan. I think it will dissipate by the time it will close coastal areas. Lets keep praying and hope things will unfold as we are expecting. Those who are waiting for rain in Karachi, I think there expectations may not come true.

People living at Seaview Apartments, Darakshan Villas and from other projects constructed along with the beach started running towards Hyderabad. Now people have become matured and ignore such warnings. Let’s pray that the storm will pass quietly and hopefully rains will not bring any disaster. Time is coming to test the skills of many provincial government departments.

Abdul Moiz | 13 years ago | Reply Its pathetic to see people begging for cyclone to come for reducing their internal heat, Do you even know about people living in coastal areas of Badin, Thatta, Makran etc Massive poor people reside their and their homes get destroyed. So for god sake, for you 1 day of heavy rain request can bring hell outta these poor people who are getting poorer and poorer daily. These rains are no good to cool hot weather as soon as the cyclone will pass more cracking weather will appear.

Insh-Allah there be rain at maximum and no Storm. First we shall think of people's safety. Always be careful what you ask for as your wish may come true.
