ISLAMABAD:
Pakistan is an agrarian economy and the government is committed to uplifting farmers as well as revolutionising agriculture in the country, stated Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Sahibzada Muhammad Mehboob Sultan.
In a meeting with Belarus Ambassador Andrei Ermolovich and Economic Cooperation Counsellor Vladimir Papsuev, it was highlighted that bilateral trade volume between the two countries was $28.8 million in 2015-16, which increased to $45.13 million in 2017-18.
In that backdrop, the meeting participants discussed upcoming agriculture cooperation in which Pakistan could expand its export potential along with receiving technical assistance from Belarus.

The minister welcomed the upcoming visit of Belarusian scientists in the first week of December. The scientists will assist Pakistan in the 15 areas identified by the Pakistan Agriculture Research Council (Parc) and the National Agriculture Research Centre (Narc).
PBC asks government to declare agriculture emergency
The delegation will frame a joint strategy for the capacity building of researchers and the two governments will collaborate in extending training programmes for the researchers and farmers.
