HARIPUR:

A young man was shot dead in broad daylight by four men on Tuesday in the jurisdiction of City Police Station here. The motive behind the murder was reported to be a romantic relationship between the deceased and an attackers’ sister.

The police quoted Muhammad Riaz of Noor Colony as saying that Rabia Bibi of Muhalla Farooqe Azam in Taxila was in love with his son Faisal Riaz, 25, and wanted to marry him. Some days back she fled her home and came to Haripur for a court marriage but they took her back to her parents’ home after convincing her to send a proposal to her parents according to local tradition.

Rabia’s brother Adil was enraged by her actions and went to the Riaz family home, where he requested them to accompany him to discus and finalise the marriage. “However, as soon as we stepped out of our home, Adil and three unknown persons started firing at Faisal with pistols,” Muhammad Riaz told the police. The Faisal was moved to Women and Children Hospital Haripur, but he died before receiving medical aid.

“The accused managed to escape,” police told.

I just hope that the people who killed the boy receive the punishment they deserve for murder. It sounds like he was an honourable boy who wanted a proper wedding.
