The tragic drag car race organised by Bahria Town that caused the death of five spectators continues to drag on in court. On Tuesday, the chief executive of Bahria Town and two employees of the housing society moved the Lahore High Court (LHC) asking for their acquittal in the case after the legal heirs of the victims pardoned them. In another hearing, the high court granted interim bail to two managers of Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited in the case. They had been accused of sponsoring the “illegal and risky event”. Justice Ijaz Ahmed of the LHC Rawalpindi bench allowed Ali Ahmed Riaz, the Chief Executive Officer of Bahria Town, Muhammad Waleed Aman, the executive manager marketing, and Colonel (retd) Muhammaf Rafqat, the chief security officer of the housing society, to submit the diyat money with the trial court. It also asked the prosecution in the case to respond to the applications filed by the three accused persons within two weeks.
