Women demand more driving courses

Express displeasure over the lack of driving schools

ISLAMABAD: Luckily for residents of the capital, Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has a facility where they offer driving lessons to citizens at a very low cost. However, they only take on a limited number of students. Due to this reason women of the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad have demanded of the authorities concerned to increase driving courses for females in Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) as private driving schools were charging a very high fee. Women wanting to take admission in driving schools have expressed displeasure over the lack of driving schools and said that driving schools should cut their fees, and charge half the amount they presently do. Nosheen Bano said that in Islamabad, driving schools were charging Rs5,000 to Rs10,000 for 15 days of training which is not affordable for most. However, several female drivers have complained that when they approached ITP driving school they were put on a long waiting list.
