Fuelling growth: Hayatabad gas project to be complete early next year

Finance minister directs SNGPL to ensure timely completion of project

With gas being provided to industrial units in Hayatabad, as many as 10,000 new jobs will be created.

This was claimed by Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Finance Minister Taimur Jhagra while presiding over a meeting regarding the provision of gas to industrial estates.

During the meeting, Jhagra claimed that a Rs180 million project for installing gas pipelines for industrial estates is expected to be completed by the end of January 2019. He added that K-P Chief Minister Mahmood Khan had already approved the project as part of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) 100-day agenda.

IEA Peshawar President Zarak Khattak thanked Jhagra for fulfilling his promise to cater to the needs of Industries to create employment opportunities and support economic development in the province.


He said that the issue of gas supply to industrial estates had long been neglected. He apprised the finance minister that there were 22 industries which would provide employment opportunities to over 10,000 skilled labourers.

Moreover, the association would also contribute to the society by facilitating Rescue 1122 in the industrial estate and would plant saplings worth Rs2 million outside the estate and saplings worth a million rupees inside the estate.

The finance minister directs the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) authorities to ensure timely and early completion of the pipeline project. He also directed the IEA to work out a comprehensive strategy to better utilise its 100 mmcfd gas supply.
