ISLAMABAD: The central spokesperson for the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Marriyum Aurangzeb has said the Supreme Court should have summoned Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry much earlier.

“NAB court should also summon Chaudhry,” she said, adding that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) ministers should be enrolled for a course on parliamentary values.

Speaking to the media during former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s appearance at the accountability court, Marriyum said it took the top court too long to call the incumbent information minister, but NAB should summon him soon over his statements.

“Chaudhry has turned himself into a spokesperson for NAB and Supreme Court,” she jibed, adding that his press statements were making the institutions controversial and were an effort to influence the courts.

The PML-N leader said whenever the media raised any issue, a ban was imposed on it soon. She demanded of the government to brief parliament on its media regulatory authority. “We will not accept restrictions on media,” she warned.

Marriyum said those claiming to depoliticise police were busy using police and civil servants to their advantage. She advised Chaudhry ‘to think before you speak’ and asked the cabinet members to undertake a course in parliamentary traditions.
