ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb has reacted strongly to Prime Minister Imran Khan’s statement against her party's leadership terming it ‘vindictive'.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Saturday, Aurangzeb said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government is only busy making false promises, adding that "no government works that way."

Earlier in the day, the prime minister had told a select group of journalist that the opposition’s hue and cry was an attempt to avoid arrests. “They know none of them will be able to come out clean in corruption cases. Therefore, they have started making noise right from the first session of parliament,” he remarked while commenting on ongoing accountability process in the country.

PM Khan said the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was an independent institution and his government had no direct links to it, adding that corruption cases against the opposition leaders were not initiated during the three-month-old tenure of his party’s government.

In her media talk today, Marriyum Aurangzeb said: “If we review the total 61-day performance of the present government, we would see that there is a historical rise in prices of electricity and gas, the crime rate is also on the rise, unemployment also to which they [government] are only busy crying about.”

She added, “The government has no plan to fulfill any of their promises, the plan they have is only to blame others, deceit public and make false promises – this is the government, not the circus that you’re running.”

The PML-N leader went on to add that the once stable economy has been turned into a ‘beggar’s bowl’. “Those who stole the public mandate, attack our parliament and curse the opposition, can never honour parliamentary traditions,” she stated, adding, “We don’t care how much you shout about robbers and thieves, we won’t let you steal the right of our people.”

Aurangzeb advised PM Khan to tender a public apology for not turning up prepared in the government. "You should replace your prime minister seat with a container so that you would improve your performance. We will not allow you to seal from our people.”
