Disaster aversion: Relief equipment provided

High level meeting discusses matters related to arrangements for averting any damage during the monsoon season.

PESHAWAR:

The provincial government has equipped the Mardan Civil Defence Department by providing funds for purchasing of boats, lifejackets and other equipment for use in case of floods and other natural catastrophes during the upcoming monsoon season.

The equipment will be given to Civil Defence volunteers for protection of the population during floods and heavy downpour. A high level meeting chaired by Civil Defence District Officer Waheedul Haq discussed matters related to arrangements for averting any damage during the monsoon season.

The meeting was attended by Senior Warden Abdus Samad Qalandar, Aurangzeb Khan, former Nazim Rahim Shah and others. The meeting urged the provincial government to provide 100 lifejackets, 10 boats and emergency funds.
