FAISALABAD:
Agriculture experts have advised farmers to adopt tunnel technology in a bid to grow off-season vegetables. An Agricultural Department spokesperson told APP on Tuesday that tunnel technology had been adopted by progressive farmers and they were earning substantial income by tunnel cultivation. He added that it was impossible for the farmers to grow summer vegetables like cucumber, tomato and watermelon manually during the winter. “However, the summer vegetables can now be grown easily and successfully in low, walk-in and high tunnels,” he said. “The tunnel-grown vegetables are covered by green fibre sheets to protect them from severe cold and frost during winters.”
