Singer Fakhr-e-Alam faced a small glitch on his Mission Parwaaz after being detained as he arrived in Russia with an expired visa. He asked the Pakistani and Russia governments to help him in the matter so he could continue his journey.

Fakhr-e-Alam detained at Russian airport

A Foreign Office spokesperson earlier announced that the Ambassador in Russia was in contact with Alam. Mohammad Faisal has now revealed that the former VJ has been granted visa by the Russian authorities.

"Pleased to confirm that visa granted to Fakhr-e-Alam by authorities of Russian Federation today in the morning. His plane had landed at Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk city airport, located more than 6000 km from Moscow, in wee hours of 29 October 2018 after expiry of his Russian visa," he wrote.

"Pakistani Ambassador, embassy officials remained in touch with Fakhr-e-Alam throughout his stay," added Faisal. "We convey our profound gratitude to the Government of the Russian Federation, in particular the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, for their fullest cooperation."

Alam shared yesterday that he was held back in Russia on his way to Alaska. The news was announced to the public by noted TV actor Faysal Quraishi on Twitter. “Please tweet on my behalf,” the message read. “I am detained at Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk airport because my visa expired by 2 hours and date changed.”

He further added, “I don’t want to give up Mission Parwaaz. I need Pakistan’s support to carry on our flag to finish this. I have been in a room without food or water. No Wi-Fi. They didn’t give me my phone for 6 hours.”
