Italy considers Pakistan ‘promising destination’

'Italy could also cooperate with the government in its ‘Naya Pakistan’ housing programme'

ISLAMABAD: Italy considered Pakistan a promising destination for business relations and an Italian business delegation was scheduled to arrive in February 2019, said Ambassador of Italy to Pakistan Stefano Pontecorvo.

He said this while exchanging views with Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) President Ahmed Hassan Moughal and new office-bearers, who called on him to discuss possibilities of organising a business opportunities conference (BOC) in Italy.

Pontecorvo appreciated the ICCI’s proposal for organising the BOC in Italy and said the Italian trade commissioner would visit Pakistan in December. He identified the airport management system, construction of roads, power generation, marble, mining, textile, logistics, robotics and cosmetics as potential areas of cooperation between Pakistan and Italy and stressed that Pakistan’s private sector should accelerate efforts to take advantage of these opportunities.

Italy could also cooperate with the government in its ‘Naya Pakistan’ housing programme, he added.

The ICCI president said the chamber had held a successful business opportunities conference in Turkey in June this year and now it intended to organise the same event in Italy.
