Repair Workshop: Factory in residential area catches fire
Some people were seen escaping the flames by jumping roof-to-roof in the congested locality

A fire in a transformer repairing factory operating illegally in residential area sent neighbourhood people running for their lives. A number of houses close to the factory in Gondal Market near Al Noor Colony Band Khaha Road Sadiqabad were also affected by the inferno. Some people were seen escaping the flames by jumping roof-to-roof in the congested locality. Area residents told Daily Express that they had protested with the public representatives a number of times to evict factories from the neighbourhood, but to no avail. Meanwhile, Rescue 1122 said a transformer repairing workshop caught fire in Sadiqabad area when a kite thread (dour) fell down on an 11 KV electric wire and caused it to short circuit. The rescue official informed that the fire-fighting teams of Rescue1122 reached the spot and extinguished the fire. However, one of the fire-fighters, a rescuer named Qazi Wajid, who is 30 years of age got injured during the fire fighting and has been shifted to Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH).
