KARACHI:
With the local cinema industry flourishing at an exceptional rate, animated films have also made their way to the Pakistani audiences. Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy's 3 Bahadur started the trend in 2015 followed by the likes of Allahyar and the Legend of Markhor, Tick Tock, The Glass Worker and the latest release The Donkey King.
3 Bahadur becomes highest grossing animated film ever in Pakistan
Even 3 Bahadur's sequel 3 Bahadur: The Revenge of Baba Balaam hit screens in 2016 and now the team is back again with the third and final installment of the franchise.
The trailer of 3 Bahadur: Rise of the Warriors was released last night, however, it failed to leave an impression in terms of animation or storyline. 3 Bahadur focuses more on stylist gimmickry rather than engaging storytelling. Keeping in mind the audiences have had a taste of The Donkey King, the trailer looks more like a naive attempt at animation. Let's hope the film turns out to be a surprise package.
It shows the three friends - Amna, Saadi and Kamil - having to deal with the consequences of possessing super powers. They have no more evil left to fight on Earth but later a being from another planet Babushka, makes her way to find superhero Erma. What follows suit is still unclear.
While the trailer might have been a huge disappointment, the characters are voiced by some of the most celebrated artists in the industry. Mehwish Hayat, Fahad Mustafa, Jawed Sheikh, Behroz Sabzwari, Sarwat Gilani are just few of the names that make up the cast of 3 Bahadur: Rise of the Warriors.
3 Bahadur sequel: forgettable at best
The final film is all set to hit screens on December 14, 2018.
