Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Ameer Munawar Hassan said the participation of the people of Karachi in the sit-in has proved that there is no room for American slaves in the country.
Addressing the protesters on MA Jinnah Road on Sunday, he said the end of US interference in the country was a joint demand of parliament, the Jamaat-e-Islami and the Taliban.
The public would decide the matter on the streets if the government does not implement the resolutions of parliament and the Supreme Court decisions, he warned.
Scores of JI activists and supporters attended the two-day sit-in to protest against American drone attacks, increasing US diktat, pro-American government policies, poverty, unemployment, inflation, extortion and target killing incidents.
Protesters held placards and banners and chanted “Allah-O-Akbar (God is Great)” and “Down with [the] USA”.
While demanding the government stop Nato supplies from Pakistan, the JI chief said that India was sending suicide bombers to destabilise the country.
The JI leaders presented a resolution, demanding the minimum wage be raised to Rs12,000, the restoration of sacked KESC employees and elimination of corruption.
