KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) granted a protective bail till November 8 to former provincial minister and incumbent Pakistan Peoples Party MPA Jam Khan Shoro, who is accused of corruption and misuse of power in the local government department, against a surety of Rs10 million. A divisional bench headed by Justice Iqbal Kalhoro heard the plea.

Shoro appeared before the court and his lawyer, Barrister Khalid Javed, requested that National Accountability Bureau (NAB) be restrained from arrest and harassment of his client. He said that his client was ready to face the corruption charges against him.

The investigation officer (IO) said Shoro’s arrest warrants were ready. NAB prosecutor observed that the bail of the accused should be cancelled so that investigation could be carried out.

Shoro’s lawyer maintained that they had only received a call-up notice but hadn’t been informed about the accusations. The IO said that the accused misused his authority and committed corruption on a large scale.
