QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan has said Quetta is re-emerging as one of the peaceful cities of the country due to the sacrifices rendered by our security forces and the courage shown by our citizens.

“We have to unite against our common enemy for restoring complete peace and harmony,” said the chief minister while addressing a passing-out parade of the Eagle Force on Tuesday.

The third batch of the Eagle Force, comprising 200 personnel, completed its training imparted by the Pakistan Army.

Commander Southern Command Lieutenant General Asim Saleem Bajwa, Inspector General of Police Mohsin Butt, provincial ministers and government officials were present.

The Eagle Force personnel displayed their skills during the parade.
Addressing the ceremony, Kamal said, “We have to transform our police and Levies force into a striking force as terrorists have been using latest technology in their attacks; therefore, our forces must be trained and equipped with latest arms.”

He said after witnessing a decade of violence Quetta “is re-emerging as one of the peaceful cities of the country”.

“Launching the Eagle Force in Quetta proved a successful decision because its presence on streets has reduced targeted killing incidents,” said Kamal.

Lauding the Pakistan Army’s assistance in providing modern training to the Balochistan police, the CM said, “The provincial government has been conducting training courses for police and Levies under the Pakistan Army’s command which is yielding positive results and emboldening our forces.”

He said it’s the responsibility of the provincial government to protect the lives and businesses of its citizens. “Balochistan is home to all nations; therefore, protecting the soil is our prime obligation,” he added.
