Special session: Cabinet approves budget

ISLAMABAD:


The federal cabinet approved the budgetary proposals for fiscal year 2011-12 at a special session chaired by Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani on Friday.

The cabinet approved the budget proposals after deliberations.  Finance Minister Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh briefed the prime minister and his cabinet colleagues about the budget proposals. The premier told the participants that the economy’s revival was the key concern of his government and added that the next financial year would open a window for the resumption of growth cycle.“ He urged the economic team to proactively work in the coming year in core areas of power sector reform, revitalising of tax machinery, fast-track development of hydel projects and better governance in the bleeding public sector corporations.
