"Officially wrapped on Avengers 4. It was an emotional day to say the least. Playing this role over the last eight years has been an honor. To everyone in front of the camera, behind the camera, and in the audience, thank you for the memories! Eternally grateful," he tweeted.

Speculations of Evans' departure began earlier this year with some publications reporting that the actor has no plans of returning to the the franchise once Avengers: Infinity War hits theatres. They quoted him as saying, “You want to get off the train before they push you off.”
Evans has played Captain America since 2011 in 10 films, starting with Captain America: The First Avenger.
He portrayed one of the original cinematic Avengers along the likes of Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye.
In Marvel's last film, Avengers: Infinity War, Captain America did not seem to have been used to his full potential. His entrance with Black Widow, when they fought Thanos’ Black Order to save Vision and Scarlet Witch, was commendable. However, that fight was overshadowed by Doctor Strange and Iron Man’s battle with the Mad Titan himself.
Nonetheless, the writers of Avengers 4 have confirmed that Captain America will have a crucial role in the next installment. Speaking to The New York Times, writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely revealed that Captain America “has a much bigger role to play in the second film”.
Untitled 'Deadpool' film to release in December 2018
Evans has now finished filming Avengers 4, Marvel's 22nd film. The synopsis of the upcoming film was released recently, stating, “A culmination of 22 interconnected films, the fourth installment of the Avengers saga, will draw audiences to witness the turning point of this epic journey. Our beloved heroes will truly understand how fragile this reality is and the sacrifices that must be made to uphold it.”
The film is set to hit theatres on May 3, 2019.
