Entertainment journalist and fashion critic Aamna Haider has sparked conversation online after sharing her thoughts on actor Sahar Hashmi’s appearance.

While praising Sahar’s growth as a performer, Aamna speculated that the actor may have undergone cosmetic enhancements and suggested that she avoid any further procedures, arguing that they could affect her screen presence in the long run.

Her comments quickly divided social media, with some viewers agreeing with her observations and others criticising what they saw as unnecessary scrutiny of a young actor’s appearance.

Prefacing her remarks with praise, Aamna said she intended no offence or personal criticism.

“As I am appreciating her, I would like to take the liberty of saying this without any mean intention or getting personal,” she said. “If she has had any facial enhancements — or perhaps she hasn’t — sometimes I feel there is a slight unnatural movement in her facial muscles when she delivers her dialogues.”

She added, “If it’s natural, then that’s okay, we will get used to it but if she has had it, you know some kind of filler in her face, I would like to advise sincerely because she is improving, so she should not get more done”.

Aamna further noted, “People will be watching and will think she has done it and that is why her facial movement is a bit strange. If she hasn’t, then that is fine”.

Emphasising that her comments were rooted in what she perceived as the actor’s potential, she said, “She is improving steadily and looking very well and genuinely enjoying her performance. She has the potential to make it really big,” adding, “Nip the small evils in the bud right now.”

Aamna concluded with, “I say this with a lot of humility and love and respect, not to be mean”.

Following the interview, social media users remained divided. Some viewers agreed with her, echoing similar observations about Sahar’s facial expressions in her ongoing drama Zanjeerain.

Others, however, strongly disagreed, arguing that discussions around a person’s facial structure should not be public debate.

The user commented, “It’s time to leave young girls alone and let them do what they want to themselves and in their life,” while adding, “When will my Pakistan move past this, there’s 100 better topics to speak about than someone’s face.”

The segment has reignited an ongoing debate about beauty standards, cosmetic enhancements, and the boundaries of public criticism in the entertainment industry.

While some view such commentary as constructive observation, others see it as unnecessary scrutiny of actors’ appearances, highlighting a broader tension between personal choice and public perception in celebrity culture.
