ISLAMABAD:
The Supreme Court has directed the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulator Authority (Pemra) to register all the six media rating companies within a week. A three-judge SC bench, headed by the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar, on Thursday issued a written order, giving directions to Pemra and the Pakistan Broadcasters Association (PBA) to streamline TV channels and advertisers. The order said any company which does not seek registration or is not registered in a week shall not be allowed to do business. The order asked all the six rating companies to provide data, information and material regarding the Television Audience Measurement (TAM) to Pemra on daily basis. Pemra is asked to make this data available to advertisers.
