Canal Water Theft: Three MNAs, MPAs named to committee

Leghari said the committee would devise a strategy to stop water theft.

The chief minister has formed a committee of three MNAs and three MPAs to probe canal water theft cases and take action against the guilty. The Irrigation secretary would also be a member of the committee.


MNA Sardar Arshad Khan Leghari said Shahbaz Sharif had in a meeting at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Lahore had decided to appoint MNA Rana Tanvir as the convener of the committee.

He said the first meeting of the committee has been called on June 6.

Besides Leghari MNA Masood Majeed and MPA Mian Ijaz Shafi are also a part of the committee.

Leghari said the committee would devise a strategy to stop water theft so that exploitation of farmers with small landholdings could be stopped.

He said the committee would also take action against Irrigation department officials who were involved in theft incidents.
