KARACHI: Foundation Resident Director Mehnaz Rehman has urged for law enforcers to sensitise people about the Protection against Harassment of Women at the Work-Place Act.

She said that all sections of society, including police officers, lawyers and judges, must be informed about the issue and the relevant laws because they are expected to assist victims or complainants.

“This is extremely important because the rampant chauvinism, social pressures and patriarchal paradigm are major hindrances, which often prevent victims from reporting cases of harassment,” she said.

The introduction of the law, which is also included in the Pakistan Penal Code, makes it important for all stakeholders to understand it in order to make it work.
