Asif Ali Zardari's close aide released on bail

The Hyderabad Circuit Bench approved his bail plea against a surety of Rs200,000

HYDERABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party co-chairperson, Asif Ali Zardari’s associate and former special assistant Ismail Dahiri, who was arrested in a Rangers’ raid in Nawabshah on June 28, has been granted bail by the Sindh High Court. The Hyderabad Circuit Bench approved his bail plea on Wednesday against a surety of Rs200,000. Rangers personnel had detained Dahiri in a raid at his residence and fuel station in Benazirabad district. The law enforcement agency claimed to have recovered five Kalashnikovs, as many grenades and 12 magazines with live bullets from his possession. He was later handed over to Daulatpur Police Station where an FIR was registered against him on the state’s complaint. The raid occurred during the days of the election campaign. Ismail Dahiri, who is also an office-bearer of the Pakistan Peoples Party’s Nawabshah chapter, was arrested along with his brother and 40 other suspects, according to the Rangers spokesperson.
