IHC suspends accountability court judgement

As the Islamabad High Court (IHC) suspended the sentences awarded to deposed premier Nawaz Sharif, daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Capt (retd) Safdar, politicians took to Twitter to share their thoughts.

The order allows the release of Sharif family members from Rawalipindi Central Jail – where they have been incarcerated since July 13.

Once again, Pakistan’s institutions demonstrate incredible resilience in the face of very strong and sustained pressure.

Judiciary today shows that it is more robust than it has seemed in the last year.

Following the verdict, the ruling party lauded the independence of courts and the judiciary.
