Close to completion: Urology institute starts hiring senior staffers

RMU vice chancellor has invited applications, appointments <br /> expected to be made on an ad-hoc basis

Having already started the process of hiring subordinate staff, a long-awaited urology and nephrology centre in the garrison city has started the process of recruiting senior staff such as administration members, professors, consultants and medical officers.

The Rawalpindi Institute of Urology and Kidney Transplant, under construction for the past seven years, is expected to start partial operations in December.

The appointments for the new facility are being made on an ad-hoc basis using an online portal.

The hospital, located in Shamsabad along Murree Road, is also expected to fill posts for its chief executive, chief consultant, senior consultants, associate and assistant professors, male and female medical officers, paramedical staff, biomechanical engineers, biochemists, pharmacists, head nurses, charge nurses, accounts officer, office superintendent, senior and junior clerks, computer operators and sub-engineers.


Applications have been invited by Rawalpindi Medical University (RMU) Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Muhammad Umar.

The recruitment process is expected to take around three months to complete and staff should start working at the new facility by the end of November after which phase-wise launch of the hospital’s facilities will begin.

Functions of emergency, the outpatient department (OPD) and the all-important dialysis centre are expected to begin in the first phase. In the second phase, the hospital’s wards, general surgery and kidney transplant unit are expected to start functioning.

The hospital’s medical superintendent Dr Shoaib Khan, after assuming his post, has expedited the process of completing pending facilities including the civil works of the institutes building.
