KARACHI:
Pakistan needs to focus on establishing a strong knowledge-based economy so that the country can enter a new phase of development as the global society has reached the 'fourth industrial revolution'. This was stated by former chairperson of Higher Education Commission Professor Dr Attaur Rahman, while speaking at the 11th Summer Internship Program (SIP) 2018 certificate distributing ceremony held at the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi on Saturday.

Around 200 students from institutions of Pakistan, Turkey and Germany attended the programme. Rahman pointed out that petrol and diesel driven cars will soon vanish from roads and be replaced by electric cars with super-fast batteries, as the new industrial revolution is reshaping government, teaching, healthcare, trade and business, and almost every other segment of life.

Talking about the success of the internship programme, he said that such learning programmes would help Pakistani youth get on the way to knowledge and technology. In order to reap benefits from the ocean of knowledge based on the internet, Pakistani students are required to show their extreme love and passion towards education and learning, he said.

Professor Dr M Iqbal Choudhary said the ICCBS was the only institution in Pakistan that initiated these kinds of national and international level youth training programmes.
