KARACHI:
On the call of the government to make Pakistan green and combat numerous environmental problems, National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) President Tariq Jamali planted a sapling at the University of Karachi under the bank’s corporate social responsibility programme “Green Initiative”. The bank will plant trees in various parts of the city and across Pakistan. NBP will plant over 1,000 trees at various sites of the Karachi University to beautify the campus and improve environment. Jamali said tree plantation on a large scale was essential to avert pollution and counter the negative impact of climate change. “We need to build industry-academia linkages as they are not well developed as our educational institutions rarely engage in such activities. We need to tap into their alumni network or engage with the industry,” he said.
