Authentic data is vital for extending assistance to the specially-abled people, said speakers at an event held to ensure the rights and inclusion of people with disabilities.

The UK Department for International Development hosted the event in collaboration with the Ministry of Planning, Development and Reform, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics and the Washington Group on Disability Statistics.

Secretary of State for International Development Penny Mordaunt said: “Data is the life-blood of decision making and the raw material for accountability.”

DFID Pakistan head Joanna Reid said: “We need to make sure that every single person with a disability counts by counting everyone!”

Mitch Loeb from the Washington Group said: “When people aren’t counted they simply don’t count when important decisions are made about government spending.”
