Families of Model Town victims on Thursday urged Chief Justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar to intervene in the case after a victim was slapped during an anti-terrorism court (ATC) hearing on Thursday. According to reports, the counsel of a suspect slapped one of the victims during the hearing of the case.

“We had come for justice but we are being slapped in the court,” said the counsel of the victim. The victims also staged a protest against the incident and boycotted the hearing, being held on a daily basis, along with lawyers.

Earlier, a Lahore High Court (LHC) bench requested the provincial chief justice to constitute a larger bench to hear a petition challenging the functioning of the Model Town inquiry tribunal. The full bench directed the registrar’s office to place the case file before the chief justice for the constitution of a larger bench, with the inclusion of Justice Asghar.
