ISLAMABAD:
The Islamabad Police on Tuesday denied claims that the official pistol and documents belonging to Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jan Muhammad had been stolen.

The official statement released by the federal capital's police force states that, "The pistol of an official was misplaced and an inquiry in this regard had been initiated as per the due procedure".

An investigation had been launched by capital city police after the official pistol and documents belonging to Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jan Muhammad had allegedly been stolen.

Police sources told The Express Tribune that the matter regarding the theft of the pistol and documents was reported to the police headquarters on Friday, after which an inquiry was launched.

Sources had claimed that the stolen pistol was issued to the IG’s gunman and was not the top official's personal weapon.
