HYDERABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader MPA Haleem Adil Sheikh said the party will support harassment victim Farzana Jamali to get justice. Sheikh visited the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University student in Benazriabad district and later went to the police station to register an FIR against the accused.

Sheikh told The Express Tribune that the varsity is allegedly exerting immense pressure and has frightened the victim. "She has not changed her stance but seems to have lost the courage to face the situation."

Jamali, a student of the English department at the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University Benazirabad, had accused her teacher, Aamir Ahmed Khattak, of harassment, and the vice chancellor Arshad Saleem Arain of alleged connivance.

The PTI leader complained that the police refused to lodge the case. "Asif Ali Zardari has made Benazriabad his kingdom, the vice chancellor is his blue eyed boy due to which no action can be taken against him."

Sheikh said that Governor Sindh Imran Ismail has taken notice of the matter and if someone is found guilty of harassment, action will be taken regardless of their political influence. He added that the PTI will also provide legal aid to the student.

Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has sought a report from the Benazirabad deputy commissioner, while the varsity has also formed a three-member inquiry committee to investigate the incident.
